Ana Oaxaca

Post-Doctoral Fellow

Dr. Ana Luisa Oaxaca Carrasco (PhD and MA, University of California Los Angeles; BA, University of New Mexico) is an Early Career Postdoctoral Fellow at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin. Her research focuses on the intersection of immigration, representation, and urban politics in U.S. municipalities.

Dr. Oaxaca’s dissertation investigates the impact of a seemingly nationalized electorate on local elite behavior concerning immigration policy. She examines the strategic decision-making processes of municipal officials that lead to inequality in representation for immigrant constituencies.

Her work has been supported by several prestigious fellowships and grants, including the Princeton Bobst Center for Peace and Justice Dissertation Scholars Program, the Ford Foundation Dissertation Fellowship, the Ford Foundation Pre-Doctoral Fellowship, the APSA Centennial Center Research Grant, the APSA Fund for Latino Scholarship, and the UCLA Political Psychology Fellowship.
